Setting Up Single Sign-On (SSO) for Glide with Microsoft Azure

Glide uses Single Sign-On (SSO) to provide secure and efficient access to the Glide Dashboard, where employees can create and manage applications. This guide is designed for IT teams and will walk you through the process of setting up SSO using Microsoft Azure's cloud-based services.

Note: If your organization uses an on-premise solution, such as Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), please contact us for specific instructions tailored to your setup.

Before you get started, contact your Glide CSM. The Glide team will generate a metadata URL that you will need in the following steps.

Step 1: Set Up an Enterprise Application in Azure

  1. Log in to the Azure Portal:

    • Go to Enterprise Applications under Azure Services.

    • Click New Application > Create your own application, name it, and click Create.

  2. Assign Users and Groups:

    • Under Getting started, select Assign users and groups.

    • Click Add user/group, select the users or groups needing access to Glide, and click Assign.

Step 2: Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) in Azure

  1. Set up SAML SSO:

    • In Azure, go to Set up single sign-on and choose SAML.

  2. Configure SAML settings:

    • In the Basic SAML Configuration section, click Edit.

    • On this page, you may either upload the file from the metadata URL supplied by Glide.

    • Click Save.

Step 3: Map Azure Claims to Attributes

  1. Map user attributes:

    • In Azure, go to Attributes & Claims.

    • Edit the email attribute to map it to user.userprincipalname. Optionally, map user.givenname to firstName and user.surname to lastName.

Step 4: Share the Azure Metadata URL

  1. Locate the Metadata URL:

    • In the SAML setup in Azure, find the App Federation Metadata URL under the SAML Certificates section.

  2. Copy the URL:

    • Copy this URL. It contains important details that Glide needs to securely connect your Azure AD with our application.

Final Step: Share Your Metadata URL

Once these steps are complete, please share your metadata URL with us, and we'll finalize the connection on our side.

Conclusion

By following these steps, your IT team will successfully set up Single Sign-On (SSO) with Microsoft Azure, ensuring secure and seamless access to the Glide Dashboard for your users. For on-premise configurations or any further assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
